Speed is always the first thing people chase in Horizon, and with the new line-up of FH6 Cars, it's easy to see why. The Hennessey Venom F5, Koenigsegg Jesko, Agera RS, and McLaren Speedtail all look like obvious dream picks on paper. Big numbers, wild bodies, silly top speeds. But once you're actually racing through tight Japanese streets, mountain roads, and quick elevation changes, that 300 mph bragging right doesn't always help much. You'll notice it fast: the car that wins isn't always the one with the biggest speed stat.
Raw Speed Still Has Its Place
The Venom F5 Is Built For Straight Roads
The 2021 Hennessey Venom F5 is the stock top-speed monster. It can reach around 304 mph, which puts it above the Jesko and Agera RS in pure straight-line pace. It's also cheaper than the biggest Koenigsegg options, so it feels like the sensible pick if your goal is speed traps, highway pulls, or just seeing how far the needle will go. The catch is pretty obvious once you drive it. It doesn't jump off the line like a proper race build, and it needs a long stretch before it starts to feel special.
Best for speed traps and freeway runs
Weak when races have repeated braking zones
Cheaper than several top-tier hypercars
Needs space before its top speed matters
The Jesko Feels Easier To Race
Control Beats One Big Number
The Koenigsegg Jesko may not beat the Venom F5 in a top-speed shootout, but it's usually the car more players will trust in a race. It turns better, brakes cleaner, and feels less nervous when you're already flying. That matters a lot on fast roads where one late brake point can send you into a wall. The Agera RS sits close behind, with great stopping power but less sharpness through corners. The older Agera and McLaren Speedtail still have strong pace, though they feel more like entry points into the hypercar tier than serious all-round race weapons.
Acceleration Wins More Races Than People Expect
Corner Exit Is Where Time Disappears
Newer players often buy the fastest car they can afford, then wonder why a "slower" car keeps pulling away after every bend. That's Horizon racing in a nutshell. If a car has 10 acceleration, strong launch, and reliable braking, it can recover speed again and again. The Mercedes-AMG One and Porsche 918 Spyder are good examples. They don't need a five-mile straight to work. They fire out of corners, settle quickly, and keep the run clean. The Ferrari FXX-K Evo Welcome Pack is another serious pick because it gives huge grip and launch for a surprisingly low price.
Smart Picks For Different Drivers
Don't Buy Every Hypercar Just Because You Can
If you love roaming and chasing top-speed records, get the Venom F5 and enjoy the madness. If you want proper race pace, the AMG One, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari FXX-K Evo, and Lamborghini Revuelto make more sense. The Revuelto is especially handy for players building up their garage because it has brutal launch and acceleration without costing millions. A smart garage usually has one highway car, one balanced S2 racer, and one handling-focused build. Spend your FH6 Credits on cars that suit the events you actually run, not just the ones with the loudest stat sheet.
