The absolute best attachments for the Osprey sniper rifle depend directly on your preferred engagement style, as it is a bolt-action weapon that forces you to un-scope and rechamber after every shot. Because of this unique mechanic, traditional stats like recoil control, recovery time, and underbarrel grips are completely useless.
If this gun kicked up by 20 feet every time you pulled the trigger, it wouldn't change its performance one bit. The un-scoping action resets your alignment anyway, meaning your modification focus needs to shift toward tracking targets, projectile speeds, and quick-swap defensive utility.
The Stealth & Utility Meta Build
This setup is highly recommended by the community for solo runs and standard sniping. It focuses on keeping your position hidden while dealing maximum damage from afar. When you are looking to secure high-value extractions, you will often find yourself trying to buy arc raiders blueprints via community hubs or third-party marketplaces like U4N just to guarantee you have the crafting backing for a full loadout. If you use the Osprey to protect that investment, this stealth-focused setup is your insurance policy.
Muzzle: Silencer (Tier II or III) – Essential for hiding your location. Without it, the loud crack of the Osprey attracts aggressive players looking to investigate your position.
Magazine: Extended Medium Mag II / III – Gives you more shots before needing to commit to a full reload animation. While it does not change the per-shot chambering speed, jumping from the base capacity to an Extended Mag III lets you pressure targets much longer before retreating behind cover for a dry reload.
Stock: Lightweight Stock – While players debate its direct impact on hard-scoping zoom speed, it is highly valuable for reducing weapon equip and un-equip times. It provides a massive Aim Down Sights (ADS) improvement—allowing you to quickly swap to a close-quarters secondary weapon if ambushed.
Underbarrel: None / Decorative – Grips have zero mechanical effect on the rechamber cycle, so you can safely leave this slot empty or slap on any low-tier grip to satisfy your inventory aesthetics.
The Long-Range "Hit-Scan" Velocity Build
If you prefer hitting flying targets, pulling distant Ark enemies, or counter-sniping across massive open maps like Spaceport, prioritize bullet velocity over stealth.
Muzzle: Extended Barrel – Dramatically increases bullet velocity. This extra velocity turns the rifle into an absolute laser, providing stronger physical impact, better knockback against airborne targets, and making it much easier to hit moving targets at 400+ meters. For example, testing shows that hit registration on the airborne ARC Turbine boss canisters becomes almost instant with an Extended Barrel, letting you knock down rocketeers from afar before they track your squad.
Attachments to Avoid
Stable Stocks & Padded Stocks: These attachments provide massive penalties to weapon swap speeds and ADS speeds. Since the Osprey completely resets its crosshair bloom during the rechamber animation anyway, these stability metrics provide absolutely no benefit.
Compensators & Muzzle Brakes: Designed for managing continuous automated fire or automatic bloom accumulation. They are totally wasted on a single-shot sniper rifle. Keep these in your stash for high-fire-rate assault rifles or SMGs like the Bobcat instead.
